Hola! Mexico City. Vol2 - Mexico -
There were so many art galleries and museums to visit, showcasing murals, paintings, and sculptures. I was excited to see a painting by Frida Kahlo, a renowned local artist. Her work is famous for its strength, vivid colors, and deep messages. Although her house and atelier have been converted into an art museum dedicated to her, I regrettably didn’t have tickets, as they needed to be booked about two weeks in advance, much like those for visiting the works of the famous architect Luis Barragan. It was a shame. However, I learned a valuable lesson: I need to do more research ahead of time before visiting cultural places like these.
1. Museo Mural Diego Rivera
The murals here were impressive, featuring large-scale drawings with significant political messages behind them. QR codes directed us to the museum's homepage, providing stories in English, which was incredibly helpful for a deeper understanding.
The main hall, with its breathtaking Art Deco design, featured wall paintings displayed along the corridor, extending the open space beautifully.
2.Museo de Arte Moderno.
This museum offered a range of artworks, from classic to contemporary, including drawings and sculptures. We particularly enjoyed the garden where many pieces were displayed; it was delightful to walk among the art in nature.
Here is Frida Kahlo's painting! I finally viewed it in person, and I was captivated by the oil paintings that depicted the daily lives of locals, such as scenes at a market and harvesting crops in the field. It's fascinating to learn the stories behind these works.
3. Medellin Market.
4. Food of the week.
Tacos, tacos, tacos! We tried them multiple times because they are a famous Mexican dish, with many fillings and flavors to choose from. However, one night we decided to visit a vegetarian restaurant to change things up. The food was delicious, and the owner was so friendly and eager to chat with us.
I got a 1L beer, which was a bit of a mix-up since we had intended to order two 500ml beers. It turned out to be a happy mistake! I encountered many kinds of chili sauces on the table that truly amazed me.
5.Angeles del pedregal hospital
Finally, I saw a doctor at Ángeles del Pedregal Hospital. During my consultation, I had an X-ray of my little finger, which the doctor said was fractured. He advised me to get an orthopedic cast, humorously referred to as a "turtle shape," which looks as if it’s being held by its legs! I was told I needed to start rehabilitation two weeks from that day. It feels like a long road to recovery for my finger. Thankfully, the doctor's assistant was an English teacher, making communication with the doctor and the X-ray staff smooth and easy.
