Uncle Ho’s hometown, Vinh - week 2 in Vietnam 3 -

After a 5-hour train ride, we arrived in Vinh, central Vietnam, known as Uncle Ho's birthplace. We visited his village and passed by the square with his huge statue. Actually, what I enjoyed most was motorbike night cruising as capturing the old gates lit up and local specialities such as eel soup! No tourists from overseas could be seen, and there weren't many spots to explore, but it was okay to spend a few days.

I found myself getting good at using body language in non-English/Japanese speaking towns like here. Using simple words with big gestures worked so well.

Ho Chi Minh Square

Ancient citadel gates.

Eel's soup... The eels are not from the ocean but from the swamp, so they are called Asian swamp eels. Those are striped and short, while the Japanese version is fatter and longer. Deep-fried dish would have been easy to eat like crisps, but I had no doubts about how good for nutrition and strengthening, so I ate them all!

We crossed over the briege to go to the beach to dip ourselves. It was quite clean but we started to feel something touching our feet.... It was a tiny shrimp eating out skin ( maybe ) so our feet got so smoother after swimming. Hihi.
The seafood was incredible! Eating squid with mint, vegitable and spicy sauce was soo good!
